Getting started

How is this different from a typical language app?

Three ways. First, your weekly plan is built from your real bottleneck — measured from your own speaking — not from a generic syllabus. Second, feedback after each turn is one main error, the reason and the fix, within 5 seconds. Third, progress is recognised by evidence in new situations, with conditions (channel, interlocutor, autonomy), not by hours studied or a generic score.

How long does the first plan take?

Usually under 5 minutes from sign-up: 3 questions about the work you need to do, a 60–90 second speaking sample (or a text task if you would rather not speak yet), then a first plan with 1 hypothesised bottleneck and 1 five-minute task.

How much time do I need each week?

You choose, typically 60–120 minutes. Each session is 10–25 minutes. The engine allocates minutes to your goal and says what you do not need to learn this week. In a busy week you can take a planned break; your streak is kept.

Which levels is it for?

Working adults and final-year students aged 18+, from A2 upwards in English. If you already speak good English and are adding Japanese, Korean or Chinese, one shared plan splits your time between the two languages (new language pairs open gradually during Beta).

Recording & devices

Why do you need my microphone, and who can hear the recordings?

We need your microphone to hear you speak and give feedback. Only you and your assigned reviewer can listen; managers and sponsors see aggregates only. We explain before we ask for permission, and you can learn with text if you would rather not record.

What if my recording is noisy or low quality?

The app checks your microphone before recording and shows a noise meter while you speak. If quality is poor you are guided to record again; if it is too noisy the system suggests switching to a listening or text task. You can replay and re-record as often as you like before sending.

If I lose connection mid-session, is the recording lost?

No. The recording is saved on your device and uploads automatically when you are back online. A banner shows how many recordings are waiting. Our target is zero lost attempts.

Which devices are supported?

Modern browsers on desktop and phone (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox). You can add it to your home screen like an app. A session can be continued on another device.

Plans & billing

What is in the Free plan?

One language, the weekly plan, sessions, fast feedback, an AI tutor with a soft budget and 10 realtime minutes a month. Running out never blocks learning: the system switches to a lighter mode instead of stopping.

How are upgrades and downgrades charged?

Pro rata for the days left in the period. You can pause for 1–3 months or cancel at the end of the period; the cancel button is never hidden. Prices are listed per market, tax included, with no exchange-rate conversion at checkout.

Do I lose data if I cancel?

No. Cancelling moves you to the Free plan at the end of the period; progress, claims and history are kept. Deleting your account is a separate flow with a 30-day grace period to change your mind.

My company gave me an account — do I pay anything?

No. Your plan comes from the company's seat or cohort contract. When you leave the organisation the company entitlement stops; a personal plan (if you have one) continues and your data goes with you, according to your consents.

Privacy & data

Who can listen to my recordings and read my transcripts?

You, and the rater or teacher assigned to that turn. Managers, sponsors and support staff cannot. Operations staff can only get in through an emergency procedure with a stated reason, a second approver and an audit trail.

How long are recordings kept?

30 days by default, then deleted; companies can set a shorter period, never a longer one. A recording that is evidence for a verified claim is kept longer only with your consent. You can delete earlier at any time.

What happens when I withdraw consent?

The seven consent purposes are independent switches under Me → Privacy, with history. Withdrawal takes effect within 60 seconds and the data for that purpose is hard-deleted. Withdrawing recording consent only removes speaking tasks from your plan; you can still learn with text.

How do I download all my data or delete my account?

Under Me → Privacy: request a data export (background job, email link expires after 7 days) or delete your account (2 steps, type DELETE to confirm, 30-day grace period). Details are on the Consent by purpose page.

Business

What does my manager see?

Aggregates only: pathway progress, verified capability, participation — per cohort, and groups under 5 show totals only. No recordings, transcripts, documents or individual rankings. Sharing progress with a manager is a separate consent you control.

Can my company use its own competency framework?

Yes. A tenant admin enters role profiles and mandatory outcomes, or starts from an industry template. Mandatory outcomes take at most 50 % of the time; the rest is for the learner's personal goals.

Do you support SSO and bulk invites?

Yes: sign-in with Google Workspace on the company domain, bulk invites via CSV, invitation links that expire after 7 days. SAML/SCIM is in Beta with pilot customers.

Educators

What is in a session brief?

Language pair, band, bottleneck, protocol stage, the last 2–3 speaking turns (as permitted) and what to avoid. Sent 48 hours before the session. No company documents and no learner billing history.

How are teachers paid?

Per session taught, every period, in your currency and country; the marketplace commission is itemised on every line. Late cancellations and learner no-shows count under the 24-hour policy. The marketplace is in Beta; teachers at partner centres are paid through their centre.

What is calibration and why is it required?

A sample scoring session so your observations and the system's sit on the same scale. Post-session observations always move a learner's protocol forward; only once you are calibrated do they also confirm capability claims. That is how “verified” keeps the same meaning everywhere.
